What is the benefit of reducing list entries when moving to SAP S\/4 Hana?<\/h1>\n

One of the biggest benefits<\/strong> and levers<\/strong> moving to SAPS4Hana<\/strong> is the reduction of listentries <\/strong>– independent whether you choose a Greenfield<\/strong>, Brownfield<\/strong> or SNP Group<\/strong>\u2019s Bluefield<\/strong>\u2122 approach.<\/p>\n

This potential should be leveraged in any case following the maxims of structuredness<\/strong>, organization<\/strong> and tidiness <\/strong>to achieve the goals of easeofuse<\/strong>, easeofextension<\/strong> and transparency<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

      What is the background?<\/strong><\/p>\n

      Research shows that the human brain is able to process up to 6<\/strong> alternatives correctly. As soon as this number is exceeded, the human brain struggles.<\/p>\n

      What are the consequences?<\/strong><\/p>\n

        \n
      1. Longer input times (e.g., if you have a list of approx. 100 order types, it takes time for your staff to go through them and process the information),<\/li>\n
      2. Incorrect entries (e.g., the likelihood that your staff selects a wrong entry is quite high in this example which leads to wrong follow-up processes, cancellation of orders, and invoices, and newly created orders) or<\/li>\n
      3. Dummy entries (e.g., if there is a \u201cgeneral\u201d, \u201cdummy\u201d or \u201cother\u201d option available, the likelihood is high that your staff selects this option).<\/li>\n
      4. Longer times for error analysis and solution extension due to unnecessary customizing entries resulting in untransparent processes in the system.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

        What are guiding principles?<\/strong><\/p>\n

        1. Reducing list entries to the number of 6<\/strong>
          \n(FYI: I used 9 in previous years as my brain can remember \u201cit should be a 1-digit number\u201d which also worked very well for clients.)<\/li>\n
        2. Keeping the system clean and transparent by deleting unnecessary customizing<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

          N.B.: There is also research on 4 and on 7 +\/- 1 or 2 alternatives.<\/p>\n

          Putting it in a nutshell, the common nominator seems to be a 1-digit-number, and the consequent reduction of cost list entries will be beneficial in any case.<\/p>\n
